A Typical Year in the US College System

August: Students typically depart for the USA in the first two weeks of August.
December: The first semester concludes by mid-December, followed by a 3-4 week break.
January: The second semester begins in mid-January and runs until late April or early May.
Summer: A three-month summer break allows students to return home or pursue other opportunities.

Accommodation and Living

Most first-year students live on campus in dorms, often with fellow athletes. Starting in their second year, some schools allow students to live off-campus, providing more independence.

At Sport Scholarship USA, we support your child throughout their entire stay in the USA, and we also offer free transfer assistance. Unlike many companies, we pride ourselves on placing players at the right school the first time. However, if circumstances change and a player needs to transfer, we facilitate this process at no additional cost.

Additionally, we offer a graduation trials program for players who have proven they have the skills to move into the professional arena. Through this program, we secure trials with clubs across Europe and the US, leveraging our strong professional links.

In the USA, college players often participate in the "summer league," part of the USL 2 division in the United States football pyramid. This league, which maintains amateur status, is filled with college players. Staying in the USA during the summer to play in the USL 2 league provides an excellent opportunity to showcase their talents to MLS scouts and professional clubs.

ESSENTIAL HOUSING INFORMATION

ON-CAMPUS LIVING

Sport Scholarship USA ensures international students have on-campus accommodation, often referred to as dormitories. These buildings have multiple rooms, usually housing 2-3 students of the same gender who share bathrooms. Living on campus is particularly advantageous for first-year students due to its proximity to essential facilities. Rent covers utilities, and each college has a policy for international phone call charges, which we encourage students to familiarize themselves with upon arrival.

MEAL PLANS
U.S. colleges and universities provide flexible meal plans for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Payment for these plans can be made in advance at the cafeteria or designated food establishments on campus at the semester's start. Each item's cost will be deducted from your account throughout the semester

OFF-CAMPUS OPTIONS
For colleges without on-campus housing, our housing office aids in finding suitable off-campus residences. Students manage utilities and food expenses. Coordinators assist in roommate pairing and provide local neighbourhood insights.

BEFORE YOU COMMIT
We encourage students to explore and assess the area before signing a rental agreement. Consider safety and convenience. It's crucial to note that landlords are not liable for possessions. Students are advised to opt for 'Renters Insurance,' details of which our accommodation coordinators can provide.
