Additionally, need-based financial aid is available, determined by factors like family income. In essence, while DIII schools may not provide athletic scholarships, there are multiple other financial aid opportunities. If a DIII program is interested in a player, they can often assist in finding funding through alternative scholarship source

  • How Many Soccer Scholarships Are Offered for Men's Programs?
Men’s soccer scholarships are available at various collegiate levels, including NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and Junior Colleges. The number of scholarships offered by a particular school can vary based on several factors, such as the coach's allocation strategy, whether the program is fully funded, and how the scholarship budget is managed. Below, you’ll find detailed information on the scholarship opportunities available at each division level.
  • Are Full Scholarships Available for Women's Soccer at NCAA Division II?
Yes, NCAA Division II schools have the ability to provide full-ride soccer scholarships for women. However, because women's soccer is classified as an equivalency sport by the NCAA, schools are not obligated to offer full scholarships. Coaches have the discretion to decide how to distribute the available scholarship funds among their athletes.
  • Am I Eligible for an NCAA Division III Soccer Scholarship?
Although Division III schools do not offer athletic scholarships, many D3 athletes still receive significant financial aid through other avenues. Student-athletes considering D3 schools shouldn't be discouraged by the absence of athletic scholarships. Those with strong academic records and test scores may qualify for academic scholarships. Additionally, students involved in extracurricular activities or community service might be eligible for merit-based awards. Families can also explore need-based financial aid, determined by factors like household income. Ultimately, athletic scholarships are not the only way to finance a college education. Numerous other scholarship opportunities are available, and if a D3 program is eager to recruit a player, they often assist in securing financial aid from alternative sources.
  • What is the format of a Soccer Showcase?
Introduction from our directors and pros Warm up with the strength coach Position-specific drills 11v11 games to assess your talent and ability Debrief and coach feedback
  • Am I Eligible for an NCAA Division I Soccer Scholarship?
Securing an athletic scholarship for NCAA Division I men’s soccer is highly competitive due to the elevated standards in both athletics and academics. D1 programs are permitted to offer up to 9.9 scholarships annually, which may be distributed as a combination of full and partial scholarships. However, it's important to note that not all D1 programs have the full 9.9 scholarships available, as budget constraints can limit the number of scholarships offered. Approximately 1.1% of U.S. high school men’s soccer players advance to compete at the NCAA Division I level.
  • What is the age range for the soccer Showcase?
Sport Scholarship USA commonly start working with athletes between the ages of 15-22. Students are not allowed to begin their journey in the USA until they reach the age of 18, starting either in the Spring (January) or Fall (August).
  • Am I Eligible for an NJCAA Soccer Scholarship?
Junior colleges, with an average roster size of 19 players and up to 18 scholarships available per team, provide a strong opportunity for student-athletes to secure full scholarships. These two-year institutions serve as an excellent stepping stone for those aiming to transfer to a four-year school or advance to a higher division, all while benefiting from lower tuition costs and saving money on education-related expenses.
  • How Much Is a Soccer Scholarship Worth?
Determining the exact value of a soccer scholarship can be challenging. Men’s soccer is considered an equivalency sport, meaning coaches have the flexibility to divide their scholarships among multiple athletes. For instance, a Division I coach could allocate 9.9 scholarships across a 29-player roster, either by offering a few full scholarships or distributing smaller amounts to more players. Women’s soccer is also considered an equivalency sport, meaning coaches have the flexibility to divide their scholarships among multiple athletes. For instance, a Division I coach could allocate 14 scholarships across a 28-player roster, either by offering a few full scholarships or 28 scholarships that cover half the tuition. The value of a scholarship also depends on the cost of tuition, which varies widely between institutions. An in-state student at a public university might pay around $10,000 per year, while an out-of-state student at a private university could face costs of $60,000 annually. Additionally, not all student-athletes receive scholarships for all four years of their college soccer career. Rather than focusing solely on the average scholarship amount, it’s advisable for families to first determine their budget for a four-year college education. During the recruiting process, athletes can then evaluate scholarship offers based on their family’s expected financial contribution after considering all sources of financial aid.
  • Am I Eligible for an NCAA Division II Soccer Scholarship?
Division II schools have the ability to offer full-ride scholarships, but it's not a requirement. Men's soccer is classified as an equivalency sport by the NCAA, meaning coaches can distribute scholarships in various ways. With a maximum of nine scholarships per team, a coach can either award full scholarships to nine players or distribute the funds across the entire roster, which typically averages 31 players. The exact scholarship amounts each athlete receives are at the coach’s discretion.
  • Am I Eligible for an NAIA Soccer Scholarship?
NAIA schools offer a competitive level of play similar to Division II, with the potential to award up to 12 scholarships. Coaches at NAIA institutions have the flexibility to distribute these scholarships as they see fit—either by offering full scholarships to 12 athletes or dividing the scholarships among the team, typically consisting of around 30 players. The amount each athlete receives is at the coach’s discretion. Additionally, NAIA schools have fewer restrictions on recruiting compared to NCAA schools, allowing coaches to reach out to student-athletes at any point during high school, potentially making it easier for some to secure a scholarship.
  • How long does a soccer Showcase normally last?
For each event, this may vary. However, the event will typically last 3 hours, from registration to our debrief.

The talent developed at this level often transitions into professional leagues such as Major League Soccer (MLS), the Canadian Premier League, and European leagues. NCAA Division I is recognised as the top tier of college soccer, with teams often competing against Premier League U23 academies in exhibition matches, showing a high level of competitiveness. However, NCAA Division II, NAIA, and NJCAA schools also have strong teams that can challenge mid-level NCAA Division I programs. • How do you travel for away games?
Travel arrangements differ by school. Typically, teams use a large coach for most away games. For longer distances, flying may be an option. If your team advances to the national tournament, which is held at a neutral location, you’ll likely fly to the event.
  • What does a full-ride scholarship cover?

  • Can I transfer if I’m unhappy with my school?
Yes, transferring schools is possible. Be aware of the transfer rules and consult your recruitment advisor if you're considering it. You are allowed one transfer without penalty, known as a 'waiver.' However, if you transfer a second time, you may face a penalty of sitting out for one year. Additionally, you cannot transfer to a school within the same conference without automatically sitting out for a year. This means you would attend the new school but not participate in matches for one year.
  • Can International Students Receive Scholarships in the USA?
Absolutely, many international students in the USA benefit from sports scholarships. In fact, international players make up around 16% of NCAA Division I soccer teams on average.
  • How can I speed up the process?
To streamline the process, start by preparing a comprehensive CV detailing your position, current and past clubs, appearances, goals, assists, and clean sheets. You don't need a highlight video, as we put that together professionally for you, all you would need is two to three full-length games, which we’ll use to create your professional highlight reel. Additionally, secure references from a teacher and a coach. These references will provide valuable insights into your academic and athletic abilities and help accelerate your communication with coaches.
  • How many college soccer teams exist?
In 2019, there were 1,710 colleges in the USA with soccer programs: 1,443 for men and 1,614 for women. Note that not every institution has both men's and women's teams.
  • What does GPA stand for?
GPA stands for 'Grade Point Average,' and it reflects your average score across all subjects in a semester, on a 4.0 scale. A 4.0 GPA represents straight A’s, while a 3.0 GPA reflects mostly B’s. To play college sports, you typically need to maintain a GPA above 2.0, though many schools set their own standard around 2.5. Attending classes and completing assignments should help you easily keep your GPA above 3.0.
  • Do you receive practice plans at SSUGA?
Practice is personalised to each individual, but it's common for athletes to focus on areas they excel in rather than areas needing improvement. Through goal-setting discussions and identifying areas for development, we pinpoint specific aspects of the game that require attention. Challenges aligned with these areas are then set to track progress over time.

  • What if we cannot attend our scheduled monthly online meeting?
We kindly request that clients provide our coaches with a minimum of 24 hours' notice to reschedule appointments. While we acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise, we will make every effort to accommodate such changes. Please note that missed meetings will not be carried over into subsequent months. However, all group sessions will be recorded and shared for future reference.
  • What are the expectations for an online session?
Considering the athlete's age, we request that all sessions occur in an open environment. For individual sessions, we require a parent's attendance until the age of 14, and for group sessions until the age of 12. As familiarity between all parties grows, this arrangement may transition to solely the coach and player. However, ensuring the safety and well-being of the child remains our utmost priority at all times.
  • How are goals established for each player at SSUGA?
At SSUGA, goals are established through collaborative discussions and analysis of the athlete's playing records or any information they may have already documented. Recognising that athletes possess valuable insights into their own game, their input is integral to charting the path forward. We also consider the input of parents and home coaches as valuable contributors to the information-gathering process for development.
  • What methods does the coaching team at SSUGA use for communication?
At SSUGA, every member of our coaching team working with an individual player has access to the athlete's portal. This platform enables comprehensive tracking of practice and development activities, facilitating feedback on progress and performance. Additionally, we encourage the involvement of the athlete's home technical coach within the athlete's portal, promoting a collaborative, athlete-centred approach. This decision is made at the discretion of the athlete and parents.
  • How can you sign up or learn more about whether this program is suitable for you?

While admission into the US college system and receiving scholarships are not guaranteed outcomes, excelling on a national level significantly enhances your chances. Colleges and universities value self-motivated and organised athletes, qualities fostered through our programs at SSUGA. Additionally, our partnership with Sport Scholarship USA, guided by their mission to empower dreams and build futures, provides invaluable assistance in navigating the college recruitment process. Together, we work to create opportunities and shape promising athletic careers, transforming dreams into reality.
  • How does a junior golfer transition to becoming a professional?
Becoming a professional golfer involves more than just signing a contract. While it marks a significant milestone, it also comes with increased costs such as entry fees and travel expenses, and heightened competition. At SSUGA, we guide junior golfers through a structured pathway, starting with success at local club or high school tournaments, progressing to county/state events, and eventually competing in regional and national tournaments sanctioned by governing bodies like England Golf or AJGA.
  • How are statistics gathered at SSUGA?
Statistics are compiled by the athlete, and tailored to their specific preferences and requirements. Initially, simple methods like pen and paper may suffice. As the need for more detailed information arises, we recommend utilising specific apps or programs to generate customised statistical reports tailored to the athlete's needs.
  • What is involved in individual online sessions?
During individual online sessions, we will focus on executing the player's development plan and aligning our efforts with the athlete's goals. As we assess progress through play and practice, we will engage in reflective review to determine the most effective strategies moving forward. Additionally, we address specific athlete needs, providing guidance in areas such as on-course strategy, mental resilience, scheduling, tournament preparation, and fitness training.
  • What equipment is necessary for strength and fitness sessions at SSUGA?
Our approach is highly individualised. Initially, fundamental skills such as pushing, pulling, hinging, and squatting are emphasised, which can be developed using minimal equipment like bands and body weight. As you progress, our strength coaches will provide guidance on incorporating additional equipment and transitioning to a gym environment for further advancement.
  • What is the timeline for my child to achieve their goals?
At SSUGA, we recognise that goals are dynamic and ever-evolving. Even the world's best athletes continually strive for improvement.
